Handcrafted Shaker Windsor Chairs
Shaker Windsor Chairs were made around 1840 in Canterbury and Enfield Shaker communities. Chairs were often made with a White Pine seat and Birch or Maple legs, rungs and back spindles. My Shaker Windsor chairs are handcrafted with a solid hardwood seat, slightly scooped for to fit comfortably when dining. Modeled after the Shaker’s Windsor Chair I have made several changes to the Shaker’s simplistic design. My slat is steam bent and made from the same wood species as the seat and turned parts, for example a Walnut chair is made entirely from Walnut. All parts are turned on lathe and have subtle details; subtle tapered posts and spindles and scribe lines used for reference marks for drilling for rungs. Our chairs are exquisitely crafted, with square pegged joints, finished with a 16 step finish process.
